Bar Council of India Removes 107 Fake Advocates from  Delhi Roll to Uphold Legal Integrity The Bar Council of India (BCI) has taken decisive action in a sweeping initiative aimed at maintaining the integrity of the legal profession by removing 107 fake advocates  from the Roll of Advocates in Delhi  between 2019 and October 2024. This step comes as part of the BCI's rigorous verification process to ensure that only qualified, genuinely practising advocates remain in the profession, ultimately upholding public trust in the legal system. Strengthened Verification Framework Under Rule 32 This effort falls under Rule 32 of the Bar Council of India Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015 . The BCI  amended Rule 32 on June 23, 2023 , which empowered the BCI to verify, identify, and systematically remove unqualified and fake advocates from the Roll. Strengthening School Safety: A Call to Action

Strengthening School Safety: A Call to Action

The Ministry of Education has taken a decisive step to enhance the protection of children in schools across India by urging all States and Union Territories (UTs) to implement the "Guidelines on School Safety and Security-2021." This directive follows crucial instructions from the Supreme Court, emphasizing the need for a safer learning environment.

What Are the Guidelines on School Safety and Security-2021?

These guidelines, introduced by the Ministry, are designed to establish a robust framework for ensuring the safety and security of students in educational institutions. They apply to all Government, Government-aided, and Private Schools, focusing on creating a secure and nurturing environment for students.

Key Features:

- Accountability: School management, including principals and teachers, are held accountable for the safety of children, both within the school premises and during transportation.

- Preventive Education: Educating students, parents, and staff on safety measures and procedures is a priority.

- Reporting Procedures: Clear mechanisms for reporting incidents related to child safety are outlined.

- Legal Provisions: The guidelines are aligned with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, ensuring that schools comply with all relevant legal requirements.

- Support Services: Provision of necessary support services for children who may be at risk or have been affected by safety breaches.

- Safe Environment: Emphasis on creating an environment conducive to learning, free from physical, socio-emotional, and cognitive threats.

Aligned with POCSO Act

The guidelines are in strict accordance with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This alignment ensures that all measures taken by schools are legally sound and focused on preventing and addressing any form of sexual abuse or exploitation within educational settings.

Zero Tolerance Policy

The Ministry has underscored a ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ towards any negligence related to child safety. Schools are expected to enforce these guidelines rigorously, ensuring that every child’s right to a safe education is upheld.

Next Steps: State and UT Involvement

States and UTs have been asked to report on the status of these guidelines within their jurisdictions. While the guidelines offer flexibility for adaptation to local needs, the overarching goal remains the same: to protect children and ensure their well-being in educational environments.

Conclusion: A Collaborative Effort

Creating a safe and secure school environment is a shared responsibility. The Ministry’s guidelines empower stakeholders—including students, parents, teachers, and school management—to work together in fostering a culture of safety and security. Let’s commit to safeguarding the future of our children!
