RG Kar Medical College Tragedy: A Mother's

Anguish and Nationwide Outcry

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the mother of the deceased doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has publicly criticized the West Bengal government and police for their handling of the tragic rape-murder case of her daughter. The incident has sparked widespread protests and led to a suo motu intervention by the Supreme Court of India.

Mother’s Testimony: “It’s Not Suicide, It’s Murder”

The grieving mother recounted the horrifying details of how she was first informed that her daughter had committed suicide. Upon arriving at the hospital, she discovered her daughter's body with visible injuries, including a broken hand and blood coming from her eyes and mouth. The mother firmly believes her daughter was murdered and has accused the hospital authorities and police of trying to cover up the case.

Criticism of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

Targeting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the mother accused the state government of attempting to suppress protests by imposing Section 144, which prohibits public gatherings. She expressed her dissatisfaction with the police's investigation and suggested that more people are involved in the crime beyond the one person who has been arrested.

Nationwide Protests and Supreme Court Intervention

The tragic incident has led to nationwide protests, with civil societies and doctors across India demanding justice and increased safety measures for medical professionals. The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the case, with a hearing scheduled for August 20. The Calcutta High Court has also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation, citing a lack of confidence in the Kolkata Police.

A Call for Justice

The parents of the deceased doctor have urged people across the country to stand with them in their fight for justice. They expressed their gratitude to the public for their support and emphasized that no other mother should have to endure such a loss.

This case has highlighted serious concerns about the safety of medical professionals in India and the effectiveness of the justice system in handling such heinous crimes. As the investigation continues, the nation watches closely, hoping for swift and severe punishment for the perpetrators.
