Bar Council of India Removes 107 Fake Advocates from  Delhi Roll to Uphold Legal Integrity The Bar Council of India (BCI) has taken decisive action in a sweeping initiative aimed at maintaining the integrity of the legal profession by removing 107 fake advocates  from the Roll of Advocates in Delhi  between 2019 and October 2024. This step comes as part of the BCI's rigorous verification process to ensure that only qualified, genuinely practising advocates remain in the profession, ultimately upholding public trust in the legal system. The Indian contingent at the Paris Paralympics 2024 has been making waves with remarkable performances across various disciplines. From archery to rowing, and badminton to athletics, Indian para-athletes have demonstrated their skill, determination, and resilience on the global stage, making the nation proud.


Stellar Performances in Archery


In the men’s individual archery event, Rakesh Kumar showcased his exceptional talent in the 1/16 Elimination Round. He secured a victory against Senegal’s Aliou Drame with a score of 136-131, advancing to the 1/8 Elimination Round. His next challenge will be against Indonesia’s Ken Swagumilang on September 1, a match that is highly anticipated by fans and supporters.


Shyam Sundar also displayed incredible resilience in the archery event, finishing 15th and securing his spot in the 1/16 elimination round. Meanwhile, Sarita, competing in the women’s individual compound open, delivered a sensational performance in her 1/16 elimination round, defeating Malaysia’s Nur Jannaton with a commanding score of 138-124. Sarita now advances to the 1/8 Elimination Round, continuing her quest for a medal.


Strong Showings in Rowing


Indian rowers Anita and Narayana Konganapalle put up a strong fight in the mixed team rowing event. The duo finished fifth in their heat with a time of 3:51.84, qualifying for the Repechage rounds. The Repechage, scheduled for August 31, offers them another chance to advance further in the competition, keeping their medal hopes alive.


Dominance in Para Badminton


Para badminton has been another area where Indian athletes have excelled. Suhas Yathiraj continued his winning streak in the group stage, securing a victory over Korea’s Shin Kyung Hwan in straight sets, 26-24 and 21-14. This win strengthens his position as he progresses in the tournament, aiming for a podium finish.


Thulasimathi Murugesan also impressed in the women’s singles badminton event, winning her second group stage match against Portugal’s Beatriz Monteiro with a solid 21-12, 21-8 victory. This win advances her to the semi-finals, bringing her one step closer to a potential medal.


However, Palak Kohli faced a tough challenge in her group stage match against Indonesia’s Leani Ratri Oktila. Despite taking the first set 21-18, Palak ultimately fell with a final score of 21-5, 21-13. Her performance remains commendable, showcasing her fighting spirit and determination.


Achievements in Para Athletics


In the Para Athletics women’s discus throw F55 Final, Sakshi Kasana and Karamjyoti both delivered their season-best performances. Sakshi finished in 6th place with a throw of 21.49m, while Karamjyoti closely followed in 7th place with a throw of 20.22m. These performances reflect the hard work and dedication of these athletes as they continue to push their limits on the global stage.


Challenges in Paracycling and Shooting


In men’s paracycling, Arshad Shaik participated in the C1-3 1000m Time Trial Track qualifying event, finishing 9th with a timing of 4:20.949 minutes. Although he did not advance to the finals, Arshad’s focus now shifts to his next event, where he will aim to deliver a stronger performance.


In shooting, Sriharsha Devaraddi, competing in the R4 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2 Qualification, narrowly missed making it to the final, finishing 9th with a total score of 630.7. Similarly, Rudransh Khandelwal also missed the final, finishing 9th with a total score of 561. Despite these challenges, the athletes’ performances are a testament to their dedication and perseverance.


Medal Wins in Shooting


Earlier in the day, India struck gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final, with Avani Lekhara leading the charge. Shooter Mona Agarwal secured the bronze medal in the same event, adding to India’s medal tally. Meanwhile, Manish Narwal won silver in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 final, continuing India’s strong performance in shooting.
