Bar Council of India Removes 107 Fake Advocates from  Delhi Roll to Uphold Legal Integrity The Bar Council of India (BCI) has taken decisive action in a sweeping initiative aimed at maintaining the integrity of the legal profession by removing 107 fake advocates  from the Roll of Advocates in Delhi  between 2019 and October 2024. This step comes as part of the BCI's rigorous verification process to ensure that only qualified, genuinely practising advocates remain in the profession, ultimately upholding public trust in the legal system. Strengthened Verification Framework Under Rule 32 This effort falls under Rule 32 of the Bar Council of India Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015 . The BCI  amended Rule 32 on June 23, 2023 , which empowered the BCI to verify, identify, and systematically remove unqualified and fake advocates from the Roll. The rule amendment has made the process of weeding out non-compliant individuals significantly more efficient. Accordi

WEF Special Meeting in Riyadh: Fostering Global Collaboration and Development

Addressing Global Challenges

Amidst the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and economic complexities, the World Economic Forum (WEF) is gearing up to host a Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development in Riyadh. This pivotal gathering will bring together 1,000 global leaders from 92 countries on April 28-29, to foster global dialogue and seek actionable solutions to the multifaceted challenges that confront our world today.

Building on Past Successes

Building on the success of the inaugural Growth Summit held in Switzerland last year, the WEF's Riyadh meeting will advocate for forward-thinking approaches to address interconnected crises while also acknowledging the short-term trade-offs that may be necessary. The meeting will particularly focus on bridging the growing North-South divide on critical issues such as emerging economic policies, energy transition, and geopolitical shocks.

Urgency of Collaboration

Borge Brende, President of WEF, highlighted the urgency of international collaboration and purposeful dialogue in the face of deepening global divides. He emphasized the opportunity presented by the Special Meeting 2024 for leaders from diverse sectors and geographies to translate ideas into action and unlock scalable solutions to the numerous interconnected challenges we face.

Saudi Arabia's Commitment

In his address, Faisal F. Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, underscored the importance of revitalizing international collaboration at this critical juncture. He emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging its diplomatic efforts to chart a mutually beneficial path to prosperity for the global community, ensuring that progress in one part of the world does not come at the expense of another.

Thematic Pillars

The meeting will revolve around three thematic pillars:

1. A Compact for Inclusive Growth: This pillar will focus on addressing trends in innovation and economic policy that threaten to exacerbate global inequality. It will explore opportunities to counter these risks and promote inclusive growth across advanced, emerging, and developing economies.

2. Catalyzing Action on Energy for Development: Given the pressing need to scale up clean energy while ensuring equitable growth and energy access, this focus area will seek solutions to advance the energy transition, particularly in developing economies.

3. Revitalizing Global Collaboration: Participants will engage in dialogue to support international collaboration, humanitarian efforts, and efforts to contain the ripple effects of instability. They will explore ways to build a more resilient global economy through strengthened collaboration between the Global North and South.

Diverse Participation

The meeting will feature the participation of over 220 public figures from more than 60 countries, including top political leaders and representatives from international organizations. Sessions will cover a range of topics, from global development to equitable energy transition and growth strategies. The event will also be accessible to the public through live streaming, allowing for broader engagement and participation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the WEF's Special Meeting in Riyadh underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges and fostering sustainable development. By bringing together leaders from diverse backgrounds and regions, the meeting aims to generate innovative solutions and pave the way for a more secure, stable, and sustainable future for all.
