Bar Council of India Removes 107 Fake Advocates from  Delhi Roll to Uphold Legal Integrity The Bar Council of India (BCI) has taken decisive action in a sweeping initiative aimed at maintaining the integrity of the legal profession by removing 107 fake advocates  from the Roll of Advocates in Delhi  between 2019 and October 2024. This step comes as part of the BCI's rigorous verification process to ensure that only qualified, genuinely practising advocates remain in the profession, ultimately upholding public trust in the legal system. Strengthened Verification Framework Under Rule 32 This effort falls under Rule 32 of the Bar Council of India Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015 . The BCI  amended Rule 32 on June 23, 2023 , which empowered the BCI to verify, identify, and systematically remove unqualified and fake advocates from the Roll. DRDO Facilitates Technology Transfer at Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024



The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) recently organized a key industry meeting during the Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024 held in Pune on February 25. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation with the industry, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups, by informing them about various industry-friendly initiatives and policies of DRDO while addressing their concerns.


Technology Transfer


During the event, DRDO handed over 23 Licensing Agreements for the Transfer of Technology (LATOT) to 22 industries. These agreements cover a wide range of domains including electronics, laser technology, armaments, life sciences, materials science, combat vehicles, naval systems, and aeronautics. Notable technologies transferred include the Manufacturing of Carbon/Carbon Aircraft brakes for LCA Tejas, Infantry Foot Bridge Floating, 40 mm High Explosive Anti-Personnel Grenade for UBGL, and more.


Promoting Self-Reliance:


These technology transfers are expected to significantly boost the defense manufacturing sector and promote self-reliance in defense production. Additionally, DRDO handed over SAMAR (System for Advance Manufacturing Assessment and Rating) assessment certificates to nine Industry Partners. SAMAR serves as a benchmark to measure the competency of defense manufacturing enterprises, further highlighting DRDO's commitment to quality and excellence in the industry.


Industry Support Policies:


Furthermore, the industry received briefings about various policies and procedures through which DRDO supports industries. These include Transfer of Technologies, Test & Evaluation support, Technological and scientific support, R&D funding to the industry under TDF, Free use of DRDO patents by the industry, and the SAMAR scheme.

Overall, the initiatives undertaken by DRDO at the Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024 are expected to significantly contribute to the growth and development of the defense manufacturing sector in India, paving the way for enhanced self-reliance and technological advancement.
